Female participation continues to grow in SA at an unprecedented rate, with over 6,000 females playing club footy across the state in 2018. Within the metropolitan area girls can play footy at any Auskick centre, SANFL Juniors Clubs (U8s, U10s, U12s, U14s, U16s) and at Adelaide Footy League’s U18 and Women Clubs. Regionally, 16 competitions are run with new competitions beginning each year. Junior competitions are run with modified footy rules including NO CONTACT in Auskick, U8s & U10s.
SANFL and community football clubs across SA are working together to give females the opportunity to come and try footy before making a commitment to play. Whilst sessions will vary at each club, females will learn the fundamentals of kicking, handballing and tackling in a fun and welcoming environment.
Best of all you don’t need footy boots to give it a go – all you will need is a sneakers, active wear and your drink bottle.
