Timothy Ginever

As a fleet-footed 17 year old, Port Adelaide hero Tim Ginever only managed one league game for the Magpies in his first year and then just six more the following season.Tim Ginever

But after that – the Alberton legend was born.

In a total of fifteen seasons from 1983 to 97, Tim played 314 games for the mighty Black And White, and was at the heart of the Magpie Machine when it was arguably at its most dominant.

Tim won the SANFL Flag a total of seven times, was named Port Adelaide’s Best & Fairest twice and, of course, captained the team for his final four years.

Perhaps surprisingly for such a key figure, he represented his State just once.

Immediately after retiring as a player, he took to coaching – first for the Power in the AFL, then later for his beloved Magpies where he was Head Coach for three seasons from 2006 to 2009.
