West Adelaide teenager Izak Rankine has displayed his athletic traits once again, this time streaking to victory in the 2017 Macca’s Dash for Cash at the Adelaide Oval.
Despite playing in the SANFL Under-18 Academy match earlier on Macca’s League Grand Final day, Rankine showed no sign of being slowed up after edging past Norwood speedster Anthony Wilson at half-time of the title-decider.
As a result, Rankine took home $2000 for himself, $2000 for the Bloods and $2000 for West supporter Chris Johnston after his standout performance.
The McDonald’s SA Under-18 representative also topped his older brother Matt Rankine, who finished in the top six along with North’s Lee Minervini, Eagle Lachlan Smith and Central District’s Jacob Templeton.
It was the first time the Macca’s Dash for Cash has been held, with Sturt’s ”Bluey” claiming honours in the earlier Mascot Race at the main change.
