Central District’s unrelenting pursuit of Troy Menzel has paid off, with the former Crow signing to return to Elizabeth in 2019.
After opting not to play for the Bulldogs in 2018, the 24-year-old spent this season earning a premiership medal with Tea Tree Gully in the Adelaide Football League, where he also coached the Gullies’ Under-18 team.
Menzel returns to the Bulldogs for the first time since 2012, when the then 16-year-old became the youngest player to make his SANFL debut for the club in Round 14 2011.
An elusive left-footer, Menzel booted 58 goals from his 21 games en route to earning the medal as best afield in the 2018 Adelaide Football League Division One Grand Final.
Menzel was drafted by AFL club Carlton at Pick No.11 in the 2012 National Draft and was traded to Adelaide in 2015 after playing 40 games and kicking 47 goals for the Blues.
Originally from Golden Grove FC, Menzel managed just four games across his two seasons with the Crows, before being delisted at the end of 2017.
He has been joined at the Ponderosa by Norwood midfielder Darcy Pisani, who is seeking more opportunities at League level.
The 20-year-old made his Macca’s League debut for the Redlegs in the final minor round match of the season against South Adelaide at Hickinbotham Oval.
Measuring in at 181cm and 77kg, Darcy Pisani is the son of former West Torrens player Paul Pisani, who played 100 games for the Eagles between 1983 and 1990.
The Club is pleased to announce we’ve secured the signature @NorwoodFC midfielder DARCY PISANI.
At 20 years of age, 181cm and 77kg, Darcy, a strong bodied, hard at it midfielder, made his League debut for Norwood this year.
