Woodville-West Torrens will use its Macca’s League clash with Adelaide at Maughan Thiem Hyundai Oval on Saturday to raise awareness about youth mental health.

Joining forces with UnitingCare Wesley Bowden, the Eagles will host a match day luncheon focusing on the theme of “Its Ok, Not to feel OK! Lets’ Talk”

The luncheon will consist of prominent guest speakers and a panel of teen mental health specialists to provide advice on how all community members can help promote good psychological wellbeing among teenagers and also how to detect warning signs there may be a problem and how to access assistance.

The afternoon will also include lead agencies participating in a Wellbeing Expo, making it easy for families to ask questions on the day, and quickly access information that may help to care and provide services for their teenage family members.

Chief Guest Speaker at the luncheon will be former NRL player Joe Williams, who will detail his challenges with Bi Polar Disorder and Depression.

In 2014. Williams created The Enemy Within, which is used to show a raw and honest side of Joe Williams, the boxer, former NRL Player, father & fiancé.

He is forthright in speaking about the depths of his private pain and the dealings with depression that drove him to the very brink.

Through customised workshops and youth focused camps, he speaks of adversity, dealing with struggle, resilience, improving attitude, positive energy & how small steps can lead to something greater.
