SHAE SHINES FOR A BREAKTHROUGH

Sturt defender Shae Gundlach broke through for a rare goal as she earned the Round 6 Powerade Breakthrough Player against the Bloods on Saturday.

A pillar of consistency in the backline for the Double Blues, Gundlach was thrown forward in the last quarter as her team attempted to steal the premiership points.

Speaking on SANFL Radio, the 20-year-old was disappointed her side fell five points short against West whilst enjoying her final term snap on goal.

Starting her career playing against boys for Golden Grove FC, Gundlach has thrived since moving to girls football at Salisbury FC.

Despite undergoing a knee reconstruction in 2015, the Double Blues’ rising star has shown no restriction this season to become one of the most reliable defenders in the SANFL Statewide Super Women’s League.
