NORWOOD FC MEDIA RELEASE
The Norwood Football Club is pleased to announce that it’s Best and Fairest award will now be named the Michael Taylor Medal. The Best and Fairest is the award presented annually to the player(s) announced the best and fairest player at the Norwood Football Club throughout the SANFL season.
The announcement was made during a pre-game function where Norwood Football Club President Paul Di Iulio said the decision was an easy one.
“Michael is an iconic player of the Norwood Football Club and the decision to name our best and fairest award after him was a perfect fit,” said Di Iulio.
With a celebrated history at the Norwood Football Club, including six Best & Fairest awards, Taylor made his league debut in the opening round of the 1972 season. Incredibly consistent, Taylor was a vital cog in Norwood’s rise up the SANFL ladder. He was remarkably resilient and rarely missed a game.
Taylor was inducted into the South Australian Football Hall of Fame in 2002, and was named in the back pocket in Norwood’s Team of the Century.
In 2014 he was appointed to the Norwood Football Club Board as Football Director.
