The first of six fire-fighting tanks has been unveiled thanks to the SANFL’s Kick in for Pinery campaign.
Officially showcased in Pinery on Monday, the massive tank will be accessible for the local Owen CFS Brigade to protect the area against major bushfires.
The Kick in for Pinery campaign, which raised close to $80,000, was established by SANFL’s Community Football department in response to the devastating bushfires in late 2015.
The establishment of the tanks was a significant collaboration between SANFL, Wakefield Regional Council, Adelaide Plains Football League and Pioneer Water Tanks.
While all areas of the tanks are yet to be finalised, other locations will include Owen and Lochiel.
