John Wynne

Starting his football career at West Perth as a centre-half forward, John Wynne played 85 games across three seasons before coming to play with SANFL Club Norwood wynne_smallin 1970, where he would spend the next 13 years.

Affectionately known as ’’ Two Eight’’, he was a regular in Norwood’s League team during the 1970s and was a member of the Redlegs’ 1975 and 1978 premiership teams.

In the 1978 SANFL Grand Final, Norwood had trailed Sturt by 29 points at three-quarter time but came back to win, with Wynne kicking the goal which put them in front.

Strong, skilful and incredibly versatile, he played State football on twelve occasions, – representing South Australia eight times, as well as Western Australia on four occasions.

A Player Life Member of the SANFL, Wynne has also been inducted into the Western Australian Football Hall of Fame.
