The SANFL has launched the Developing Leaders in Football program, with the first of three forums held at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday.

Just a week after SANFL hosted the Club Development Day at Football Park, as many as 25 aspiring and current community football administrators spent the day hearing from a range of lecturers in the Chairman’s Room.

Speaking on SANFL Radio, Community Football Manager Matt Duldig said the inaugural program had been introduced to arm dedicated volunteers with the necessary knowledge and support to enhance their clubs at grassroots level.

Attendees heard from Central District premiership captain Daniel Healy, who presented on behalf of the Leading Teams organisation in terms of establishing a club mission, vision and values.

Education was also provided on the positives and negative of social media as well as talking through scenarios faced by presidents and secretaries around the state.

The group will come together again in June to reassess goals before a final wrap-up session is conducted at the conclusion of the season in September.

Each attendee had to pass a screening test upon application and while this year’s crop has been finalised, expressions of interest are already being taken in readiness for next year’s Developing Leaders in Football program.
