Strathalbyn will host AFL clubs Adelaide and Fremantle when they open their 2018 JLT Community Series campaign on Sunday February 25.
The picturesque Fleurieu Peninsula venue’s surface has been given the tick of approval while the new double-storey function centre will be completed in readiness for the AFL pre-season contest.
Speaking on SANFL Radio, SANFL Community Football Manager Matt Duldig said Strathalbyn’s central location should ensure a large crowd would watch last year’s Grand Finalist begin their 2018 campaign.
Port Adelaide will host the Crows at Alberton Oval on Saturday March 10 in the other South Australian JLT match, with another blockbuster attendance expected to fill the Queen Street terraces.
Duldig praised the AFL for taking the game to regional and suburban areas across the state given not everyone was able to access Adelaide Oval during the premiership season.
