History of the Port Adelaide Magpies Football Club
The first game Port ever played was a draw. That was in 1870 against a team called the Young Australians on May 24, at a place called Buck’s Flat on the Glanville Hall Estate property of Captain John Hart, the club’s first president.
The club played in colours of white and blue until 1878, then changed to a pink cap, jumper and socks, with white knickerbockers. In 1883 they changed their colours again, this time to magenta and blue jerseys with navy blue knickerbockers.
In 1902 the Magpies changed to the now famous black and white.
Port Adelaide was the first League club to celebrate its 100 year anniversary.
