South Adelaide’s Nikki Gore and West Adelaide’s Jaimi Tabb headline the 47-player SA U18 Girls Academy which has begun preparations for next year’s AFL National Championships.

South Australia’s two AFL Academy scholarship holders, Gore and Tabb are expected to play crucial roles for the Croweaters who will have three training sessions in December before resuming for a testing day on January 21 next year.

The SA U18 team will again be coached by highly-regarded mentor Bill Economou, with his side to play two matches against the Northern Territory in Darwin in late May next year.

The best players from these matches will then come together to form the Central Allies, who will compete in the U18 AFL Women’s National Championships on the Gold Coast in July.

Other players to keep an eye on include South Adelaide ruck Montana McKinnon, who made her debut in the SANFL Statewide Super Women’s League for Glenelg earlier this year despite being aged just 15.

McKinnon, who measures in at a towering 183cm, is the tallest player in the squad, and has the ability to play in the centre square and in key-position posts.

Disciplined defender Katelyn Rosenzweig is another promising player to watch, with the North Adelaide back earning praise from Roosters coach Matt Slade this year for her determined approach in the SANFL Statewide Super Women’s League.
