SANFL Field Umpire Toby Medlin has been awarded his first Golden Whistle Award after a consistent 2017 season.
Medlin, who has officiated in 186 SANFL League matches, was also rewarded for his campaign with selection in his third Macca’s League Grand Final in the 2017 title-decider between Sturt and Port at Adelaide Oval.
Commencing with the SANFL’s Umpiring Academy in 2002, Medlin officiated in 20 Macca’s League matches this year en route to receiving plaudits from his peers.
Boundary Umpire Sam Royans, who also officiated in his third Macca’s League Grand Final this year, was a fitting winner of the Silver Whistle Award.
Another to officiate in his third Macca’s League Grand Final was the winner of the Goal Umpire Award, Matthew Norton, who claimed the crown for the second time in his 115-game career.
